Tropical forests and perennial snow, great ethnic and cultural diversity, Nepal is a land rich in contrasts where one of the most refined civilizations of Asia flourished. Here Hinduism and Buddhism developed one within the other, affecting the life and customs of the ancient people of the newar, autochthonous inhabitants of the Valley of Nepal.
