The exhibition brings together the result of an extraordinary project of paintings by Chinese Tong Yanrunan. For a few days continuously , the artist has painted portraits of personalities. Verbal communication between him and his models was not possible because of the language barrier, resulting in the pure concentration of the artist on his work, on the act of painting itself. The artist has dedicated over 10 years of his life to the portrait in order to translate the different models in images to be seen as paintings beyond the realism of the image itself. ” Tong shows for its models a pictorial cohesion but does not let the social differences transpire” said exhibition curator Dieter Ronte. Figures of the international public and artists coexist with the man next door.
